Peppers, Raja Annamalai Puram, Chennai

Multi-cuisine restaurants are always a treat. Though the trend of speciality cuisines is on an upsurge, people love to have a variety when it comes to food. In fact in Chennai, even though cuisine specific restaurants are a great hit, the bustle in multi-cuisines is still undying! On those lines, there is an addition to the saga of multi-cuisines in the city.

Peppers- situated in a busy end of the city, there is something so subtle yet striking about the restaurant’s ambience. The décor is immersed in scarlet tapestry accompanied with what looked like strings of shinning ruby beads hung all over the place, sporadically; rather classy!

The chef, who has crafted the menu for Peppers, certainly realises the yearning of a thirsty man. The mocktail section was elaborate with at least forty to fifty drinks including not just the usual ice teas, but a few exotic drinks such as Blue Lagoon, Muddy Sky, and Pink Lady. There was nothing extraordinary about the soups, but for the fact that they were frighteningly expensive.

Everything about the menu was Indian, Chinese, and a tad Italian. Baby Aloo Tilwala and Corn Aloo Tikki are the winners among starters. If you are a sucker for Chinese, don’t expect anything more than the usual Dry Gobi and Chilli Paneer; not that they aren’t up to the mark.

Melted butter on the stuffed Paneer Kulchas with Methi Corn Subzi was mind-boggling. There were quite a few dishes with Paneer and Dhum Subzi Biriyani served with Boondhi Raitha served in Hyderabadi Style was definitely divine. Italian dishes are overshadowed by the Indian delicacies, although they have dishes like Baked Corn Dish, Al Fungi Pasta et al.

What kind of tasty Indian food ends without sweets? The Chef’s Shahi Thukda and Malai Firni gave the whole meal a fine finishing touch. So you are famished after a cumbersome day and you want to pull over for a meal; voila, there is always Peppers!
