Restaurant Description:
SouthIndies is an upscale south indian restaurant serving good qulality and taste bud friendly food. They target cusines from the south states (Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. Going from traditional dosa, Idly, sambar and landing on hot pickels, curries and sailing to appams, puttu and thoram. They end the experience with a small gift/token of souvenir to take the memories of the good food home.

" South Indian cuisine served in style"
As a South Indian, I had always wondered why there really wasn't a classy restaurant which just served good ol' South Indian food in Bangalore. Well, Southindies the upscale South Indian restaurant in Indiranagar, is wifi enabled, with plush interiors, soft music and cuisine from four S.Indian States!
For lunch, there was a fairly decent sized spread and I started off with Appams and Arattakai Vepudu which was a tangy, flavoured kozhambu which did wonders for my taste buds. The koottu, Cauliflower Pattani Korma, Ullitheyal were almost like home cooked food and so were the Sambhar, Tomato Rasam and Payasam.
The only question which came to my mind was, what prompted me to pay Rs.220+ taxes to eat the same food which is available at home? And the answer was clear, the Founders of this restaurant – Vijay Abhimanyu and Venkatesh Bhat, definitely know the business. The restaurant throngs with two kinds of people – all those North Indians who are really dying to eat masala dosas and sambhar and typical South Indians who want to eat out, but know that what they really enjoy eating is authentic South Indian food. So for the two entrepreneurs, this is a well thought out business recipe.

"Breakfast at South Indies"
They say eat breakfast like a king but these days that are so rushed from the first light itself often breakfast gets skipped. Oh I am late for a meeting is the usual excuse I often gave myself. Till one day i made meetings a reason to have breakfast!! Now all I needed was a perfect rendezvous that combined the an ambiance of conference room and served great breakfast.
Well! in Bangalore all the options were limited to the 5 stars and I wanted it to be a little more relaxed and of course less hurtful on my pocket.
And my search began...Most of my clients especially those either hard core South Indians or those who came from other parts of the world wanted an authentic South Indian spread.
Now though many places in Bangalore did offer good South Indian fare but the almost all place were not condusive for a business meeting and nor these spread were elaborate enough.
Eureka! finally located one such restaurant that live upto all my expectations
South Indies on 100 ft road, Indra Nagar is a fantastic package of great ambiance, good food and perfect service manners.
A totally wi-fi area gave me a 24hrs connectivity and 7am to 9 am breakfast buffet had the best of showcase South Indian breakfast spread - a variety of dosas, hot rawa and rice idilis, pur- bhaji , upma and whole lot of fresh fruits , juices and filter coffee just did the right thing to give me a head start to a great day!!
Moreover I earned brownie points with all my clients and meetings now were wholesome and an tasty affair!!
And the price tag just left me feeling good!

"Expectations and Experience"
Location is ideal. Patrons are in great number. Space is somewhat limited during peak hours. We had our five year old grandson who was hungry and almost lost his patience and after a while his appetite due to the long delay in getting a table during lunch. Staff impressed us with their courteous behaviour and professional approach. Spread of the buffet lunch was rather limited and somewhat disappointing. Food was tasty but not of outstanding quality. More vegetable items should have been offered. We returned after having our lunch with a feeling that we had better expectations.

"Great food.."
After hearing a lot about this place I finally had my dinner here. The ambience, service and food is awesome. I loved the veg stew n appams. Sweeth tooth that I have, hogged onto the desserts too, which definately added the flavour to the food here.
The only minor disappointment was the cost.
I guess one has to pay when you get the quality that you expect from a place like this.
for a nice exquisite evening try booking the table on the open terrace :)

Never forget to have hot idlis dipped in sambhar... its like heaven. Price is quite reasonable
