"Conveniently located serving some decent food"
Ramanas is not really visible from the main road, but then the management is probably not worried about this. They really don't seem to have a problem attracting people! With so many corporates in and around Cunningham Road, Ramanas with its good Indian food is a great option for those who don't mind spending a `little' extra for their meal in return for a conveniently located vegetarian experience.
I had a plate of Veg Handi with Phulka and washed it down with Pudina Nimbu Pani. The food was good but I guess that is already expected and accepted. They also serve Chinese food (I prefer calling this Indianised Chinese food) the taste and flavour adopted to the Indian palate. So if you want to try some Veg Hakka Noodles or Veg Schezwan Fried Rice and eat it with Chilli Idli you will get the best of both worlds. Afterall, I am really not sure if authentic Chinese cuisine includes Chilli Idli. No matter, Chinese or Indian, the Chilli Idli should be tasted. It is a must have, though at Rs. 80 a plate it seems slightly overpriced, especially as we all know the real cost of idlis. But then I feel that the prices are a bit steep at around Rs. 90 – Rs. 100 for most dishes and rotis Rs. 25 onwards.
During lunch hour, there is a rush and it may be a good idea to book a table if you can. Having said that, I believe that Ramanas is a great place for a quick vegetarian meal.
