A one of a kind, exquisite place
Benjarong is a first of its kind, exotic Thai restaurant in Chennai. The lovely ambience and the front porch of the place, is inviting for the passerby to come and have a pleasant dinning experience. The only place in Chennai that serves a pool of Thai dishes ranging from mild ones to spicy ones.
The great thing about eating in Benjarong is the complimentary appetizer called Mein Kam; a plate of spinach leaves accompanied by small pieces of lemon, peanuts, onion, red chilli, ginger, flakes of roasted coconut and a paste made of palm sugar, authentic and different to taste.
I made a special note to look at those dishes which had a little chilly mark on the side, because I have a fetish for spicy food. Although you need great patience to understand and pronounce those complicated names. No worries, the people around Benjarong are so kind and helpful. Khao Pod Tod Prik Pon, yeah it’s a toungue twister like I said, but is also a delcious babycorn tosses with dry red chillies served as rice tartlets, beyond exquisite!
The other starters you can consider ordering are Man Farang Tod Nam Prik Pow, crispy fried potatoes, Broccoli Tod Nambouy, and crispy fried broccoli glazed with apricot sauce. They are all of a different league, that is extraordinary. I recommend you to have Tom Yam Phak , a classic Thai clear soup with vegetables and Tom Kha Phak a aromatic coconut cream soup with vegetables.
The chef recommended Khao Suay which is a variety of steamed rice with Kaeng Pa Je which is synonymous to a veg jungle curry containing babycorn, broccoli, basil, green pepper and zucchini, yummy I must say! A Thai dish that doesn’t have coconut milk. You can try the Roti Curry, the crispy vegetables with red chilli and sweet basil, , chicken in oyster sauce to go with your fried or steamed rice!
It is an insatiable dinning experience for me every time I pay visit to Benjarong. But not without the dessert of course. Try the Tub Tim Siam, water chestnut rubies in chilled sweet coconut milk or the Aitim Tod, a ried ice cream topped with honey and nuts. I have never seen or had such exotic desserts in my life ever!
Great mood setter with its scintillating ambience and antique Thai décor. I love Benjarong!

"Very Impressive"
Great food, very authentic i must say. The thai food was very good, a bit pricey..but they have a lot of very intersting drinks to offer. I enjoyed the ambience. Its sort of quiet on a weekday afternoon, might be a bit more crowded during weeekends. there is minimal parking for a few cars, but its coveninetly located near park sheraton on ttk road.
Overall I loved the place, will definitely go back there someday.

Very authentic and wonderful thai restaurant. Very convenietly located near park sheraton hotel. Food is very good. They start with traditional appetizers. They have good variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Good spicy food and they accomodate softer palaattes too. Its a great place to get together with friends in the afternoon or a romantic dinner at night. Ambience is very nice and good taste in the decorations. Not a very cheap place but little more than average cost, but worth the money.
